As you may have heard on our Facebook or Twitter pages, HANNA RANCH is an official selection at the 36th Starz Denver Film Festival. We started this journey five years ago, so it’s surreal that the time has finally come to be able to share it. And we couldn’t be more excited to do so among family, friends and festgoers in our hometown.
Since our press release went out last week, there’s been a few changes to the screening schedule. Our world premiere has been moved to the classic Ellie Caulkins Opera House to accommodate a larger audience, which is quite the honor. HANNA RANCH is an SDFF 36 Special Presentation film as well as a feature in both the Spotlight on Colorado and Environment in Focus sections of the program with executive producer Eric Schlosser in-person.
In addition to our regular festival screenings, we are hosting a special brunch event at RedLine in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and Slow Food USA. Our film introduces audiences to holistic ranching pioneer Kirk Hanna, who’s legacy lives on in the sustainable ranching movement – which is up against grim statistics. Over the last 30 years, half a million ranchers have quit or gone out of business due to relentless encroachment of development and misuse of land. Moderated by Culinary Director of Root Down and Linger Daniel Asher, this in-depth discussion will tackle the issues facing the agriculture industry in our country today – how can it withstand continual loss? Who will be at the forefront of the sustainable agriculture movement? Who will be the stewards of the land that feeds us?
The full SDFF 36 program will be announced on Monday, October 21 and tickets will be available on Friday, October 25 at www.denverfilm.org. In the meantime, check out HANNA RANCH in the news on Indiewire, The Denver Post and Denver Egotist and check back here for updates.
